After leaving Oslo, Norway we headed back north east to Mora, Sweden. Mora and Ratvikk are both in Dalarna county.
Here is the location of the home we rented (via AirBnB):
Since we are in Dalarna county we had to visit the shops where the Dala horses are created. For those unaware, Dalecarlian horse or Dala horse (Dalahäst) is a traditional carved, painted wooden statue of a horse originating in the Swedish province of Dalarna (Dalecarlia). In modern times it has become a symbol of Dalarna, as well as of Sweden in general.
My grandmother, Margit Vanja (Bengtsson) Steele had given me a Dala horse when I was younger and it was so nice to visit the shops first hand. We visited the two main shops. Dalahäst – shops visited …
Here we are at the shops where the horses are crafted and sold.
Not far from our rental house in Mora is Rattvik, so we decided to take a day trip and make a visit.
Cora, Booi, and Michelle braved the tobagan run. David and Bret did the Segway course. The toboggan run was on the side of a mountain and looked like a lot of fun. It was located at Adr: RÄTTVIKSBACKEN Slalomvägen 36 795 35 Rättvik … https://goo.gl/maps/7D4Toqem6Wo. And here is the website: rattviksbacken.se
Here is David on the segway (which he enjoyed and was very good at):
And here is the tobagan run:
At the lake we all walked to the end of the pier and Neva was brave enough to jump in and swim. After this activity we needed a break and went for fika at Fricks Konditori ( map here ).
